How to reach Milan from the airports

Milan has three airports: Milano Linate (LIN), Milano Malpensa (MXP), and Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY). From there, buses will bring you to Stazione Centrale (central railway station, subway yellow line M3).

 

Linate Airport “Enrico Forlanini” (7 km)

  • By shuttle: ATM City Bus X73 to the city centre, get off at Piazza San Babila (close to the underground station - line 1/red line), a few minutes’ walk from the Università degli Studi di Milano. First departure: 7:00 a.m. Last departure: 8:00 p.m. Departures every 20 minutes (Monday-Friday). Duration: 20-25 minutes.  For more information: www.atm.it
  • By taxi: Taxi docks are at ARRIVALS, Ground floor, exit gate 5. It takes about 25 minutes to get to Milan downtown, average rate: 25 euro.

International airport of Milan Malpensa (50km)

  • By bus: Malpensa Shuttle Air Pullman. For information: www.malpensashuttle.it
  • By train: Malpensa Express train (to Cadorna Station and Central Station). Duration: 40 minutes. For information:  www.malpensaexpress.it  If you get off at Cadorna station, take Bus 94 (direction Porta Nuova) to reach Via Festa del Perdono. The Central Station (Stazione Centrale), Milan's main railway station, is located at the hub of the transport network. This is also where two of the main underground lines intersect (line 2/green line; line 3/yellow line).
  • By taxi: Taxi docks are at ARRIVALS, Ground floor, exit gate 6 at Terminal 1 e exit gate 4 at Terminal 2. From Malpensa airport to the centre of Milan it takes about 50 minutes and the fare is roughly 90 euro.

Orio al Serio airport “Caravaggio” (50 km) 

  • By car: It takes about an hour by car to cover the distance between Bergamo airport and the city centre of Milan (highway A4 Milan – Venice).
  • By bus: From Orio al Serio Airport you can reach the Central Station or Piazza Castello in Milan by bus; the time required for the journey is about an hour. The main companies that offer this service are: Autostradale, Orioshuttle and Terravision. For information: www.sacbo.it
  • By taxi: Duration: 45/60 minutes (average cost: 110 euro).

How to reach Milan by train

Milan is connected to the main Italian and European cities by train.

From Milan it is possible to easily reach the main Italian and European centres. In addition, Milan is connected with the principal Italian cities through the high-speed train. The Central Station (Piazza Duca d'Aosta) is well served by public transport, it is also the interchange of MM2 and MM3 metro line.
